Over the last four years, MECLA has made large strides addressing embodied carbon in construction and the built environment in Australia, collaborating with industry and government to decarbonise. We believe MECLA still has an important role to play applying our systems thinking approach to embodied carbon challenges across different jurisdictions and sectors in Australia in the years to come.

However, MECLA’s current government and industry funding has now ended, and we need to raise funds to continue the Alliance’s work beyond July 2025. For this, we will enter our next phase – our 4th phase – and target a multiple source funding model to continue working on our ambitious agenda to transition the sector towards net zero.

In this briefing, MECLA presents the strategic vision and key focus areas for the next stage of the Alliance. We also present on the changes being made to how the network operates, which come into effect in the next phase.
